Snow Fest in Lake Forest City

Lake Forest City organized a Snow Fest day for everyone where they had 2 snow play areas (free) and 1 snow slide area (purchase ticket in advance for $7.00/person) with a small stage where they play music.  Last time I took William to the Winter Fest at the Discovery Cube and he totally loved it so we decided to take him to this event.

Luckily this time the line was not that long; and William got to play 3 times.  I think it was only 5 or 7 minutes per session.  He behaved really good while waiting in line: he patiently waited without running around.

Starting To Blend In?

Friday morning; there’s no school at Mitchell so William will be spending his day at Children’s World Preschool.  I dropped him off as usual; and stood by my car to observe him a little bit before leaving the day care.  He walked around, passed the sand box and came to the group of other children who were playing with the race tracks.  I’m glad to see that because other times he’d just sit alone some where and did not interact with other children.  The fact that he came by to watch others play is a good sign that he’s starting to blend in.

I hope that he will continue to do this instead of isolating himself in some corner.

I’m proud of you, Son!

Lately William has trouble taking the afternoon nap; the staffs have been trying to help him by holding him; or Ms. Nancy lies next to his little cot to keeps him from running around.  So I bought some bakery to say thank you to everyone.  Thank you for loving my little boy.

My Boy Is Smart

Thursday Evening.  William has ABA session with ABEST’s Behavorial Technician Selestie at 5:30 PM as usual.

He gave me his bottle of juice and said “Open”.  But the bottle’s cover is already open; I’m a little surprised because I know he knows that it’s open and ready to drink.  So I just closed the cover and then opened it and then handed it back to him.  He said Open again and showed signs of frustration and about to throw tantrums.  I took a closer look at the bottle and found out that the straw came off the top lid.   So what he really wanted me to do is to open the whole lid to fix the straw!  I felt bad that I did not understand him at first and caused him some frustration.  As a Mom I should know him better.  So I took off the lid, fixed the straw and gave the bottle back to him.  He took it and drank the juice because he understood that he could drink now with the straw is attached.

William is a smart boy, it’s just that communication is a big problem to him.  If he can talk or at least can convey what he wants then I’m sure he’ll show less signs of frustrations.  Most of the time he throws tantrums is because others don’t understand what he wants/says.

Playing With Peers

Playing with friends

Thursday Morning; dropped William off at Mitchell school.  He walked in and did not run into the corner; he sat down on 1 of the chairs, and when Mrs. Hana took out the race tracks, he came and played with other children.  I’ve been paying attention to where he goes to when I drop him off at school and noticed that for that past few days he did not run into a corner anymore.  He either sat on the bean bag, or chair or stood near his peers to watch; which is a really good sign.

Here are a few pictures of William playing in my car after I picked him up when the class is over.  I usually let him play and at the same time I try to feed him some thing before taking him to the day care.  For the past 2 days he loved the cheese sandwich that I made.  Yesterday he ate 2 slices of sandwich with 2 slices of cheese; 1 bottle of orange juice and 1 piece of chocolate.

William’s favorite spot in my car. He climbs down here from the back seat at least 1 time a day.
William loves the Dashboard camera in my car. I have to turn it on before driving; otherwise he’d cry.

San Francisco, Here We Come…

Saturday morning, flying to San Francisco via South West airline, begins our trip in San Francisco for 3 days (1/13-1/16).

Found a good deal on airfare from South West airline, $50.00/pp round trip so I went ahead and booked it.  The plan is to fly there, rent a car, check out the area and especially the Golden Gate bridge.

Love His Attitude Today

Having snack in Mommy’s car: 1 slice of cheese and milk, then chips.

Wed Morning 8:30 AM.  Dropped William off at Mitchell school;  he didn’t cry at all (today is the 3rd day after back to school, he cried the last 2 days); and when I stopped the stroller in front of his classroom, he stood up, gave me the pillow (he always wants to take the pillow with him) and headed to the door.   Once got in the classroom he came and sat down on a chair near his classmate!  Usually he’d just run and sit in a corner.   So I said, “Say Hi to your friend William!”, Mrs. Hana also encouraged him, “Hi Victoria”; and he repeated, “Hi Victoria!”

I’m so happy that it looks like he’s starting to blend in instead of separating himself from his peers.   I hope everyday he’d act like this.

12:50 PM. I came to his classroom to pick him up and found out he already had his backpack on his back sitting on a chair watching the movie.  Ms. Delma said he was so ready for me to pick him up.   When he saw me, he came running toward me and gave me a hug.   Love you, son!
