Special Treat From Mr. Gary

Mr. Gary was there when I dropped William off at the Children World preschool after Mitchell school.  Now that Ms. Leila and Mo don’t work there anymore; Mr. Gary is watching the children in the room where William takes a nap.  I told him William didn’t eat at lunch so he went to the kitchen, hit up some tortilla and roll it up with a slice of ham.  William looked so happy when I put the plate in front of him; he bit a small piece.

After a few bites, Mr. Gary asked him to go to bed.  I really don’t like the location where his bed is: it’s under a hangar that full of stuffs.  What if they fall? And it’s right by the entry from the yard where all the dust from the sand, big trees can fly in; his allergies will get worse.  I’m planning to tell Mr. Gary to move his bed today.

His bed is next to the door (right) which is entrance from the play yard full of dust.

The left door is to the next class room and small kitchen. His bed is right under the hangar that full of stuffs; there are 2 buckets of water which I’m not sure what they are. Hopefully it’s not chemical stuffs.

Nice Weather to Be Out

William sat on the stairs looking sad while Lydia trying to give him juice.

Saturday Morning, it’s a nice day after the heat wave last week so I decided to take William out to the park to play in the playground.  Mrs. Lydia, William’s caregiver from GSG came in separate car.

I intended to leave William there with Lydia to go to Mom Supermarket which is only 1 block away to get some stuffs to cook Bun Rieu.  I instructed Lydia to keep an eye on him always and let him drink the juice every 10 minutes.  On the way to the car I changed my mind, my gut is telling me not to leave the boy to a stranger so I just moved my car nearer to the playground and then stood under the shade to watch William from a distance.   I watched for 10 minutes then I don’t see him walking around any more so I walked to the playground.  I found William sat on the step, looking sad and tired; Lydia gave him the juice bottle but he refused.  Then he walked few more steps up and lied down!  I came to pick him up, he looked so sad.  I gave him a hug, he held on to me; Lydia handed me the juice and I fed him; he drank it.   From that moment on he would not let me go. I tried to put him down so that we could walk to the car but he refused to be let down.  It struck me that William felt sad because he didn’t see me around.  Even though Lydia was there but she’s a total stranger to him.

Egg Roll!

Yesterday (Wednesday) evening, while in ABA session with Ms. Annie.

As usual I always prepare some snack for William to eat during session; and today we have egg rolls.  Ms. Annie thought the word Egg Roll might be too hard for him to repeat so she said “William, food!” as she handed him the dish with egg roll.  William replied “Egg Roll!” to our surprise.  We all laughed because we never expect him to say some thing that we didn’t teach.  I may have said the word some times but never ask him to repeat it; that’s why we were so surprised that he could say it very clear.

Today morning when I dropped him off at Mrs. Hana class, I told her about the story and asked if he learned it from school.  She laughed and said he must learn it from Max, 1 of William’s classmates, who had egg roll every day for the last year!  (this year Max is not going to this school).

Mrs. Hana also told me that usually William hates circle time, most of the time he’d get mad but yesterday he came up to the board when Mrs. Hana called his name.

I’m so happy knowing that William is learning something, slowly but making good progress.

William looks happy but it’s just the bad image I took that he looks like crying :).

Back to School After Vacation

Looking so sad!

Tuesday morning 8:30 AM.  After 1 week in Cancun, William has returned to school since yesterday.  He was fine yesterday but today he didn’t want to step in to class.  He eventually stepped in after I opened the door wide open but would not  run to the play area as he used to do.  Then finally he walked to the play area and sat down near the wall.

He just sat there while his peers play with toys.

Nap Time at Children’s World Preschool

William and his tiny bed, where he spends his nap time every day at Children’s World Preschool.

Afternoon @1:30 PM.  I dropped William off at Children’s World Preschool after picking him up from Mitchell school.  As usual he hangs up his lunch box to the hook then goes straight to his tiny bed.

Mr. Gary texted us this picture of William sleeping with the comment “Life is GOOOD”

Back to Mitchell School – 2nd year

Received this letter from Santa Ana School District few days before the school starts.

Monday morning @ 8:30 AM.  Today marks William’s 2nd year going to Mitchell Child Development Center.  Hopefully he’ll learn more this year.  He cried at home and didn’t want to go but he did not cry when I dropped him off at Mrs. Hana Suh classroom 309.  He ran straight to a corner and sat down; I saw his smile while he’s sitting down and then he’s just sitting there and watching his friends playing toys.  I wish he’d know how to interact with other children or at least grasp a toy and play instead of just watching.

Hope that he will eat something for lunch under Mrs. Hana Suh’s supervision.  I’m still sad and curious as why he didn’t eat lunch during summer school with Ms. Heusser.

William and Mrs. Hana, waiting for the gate to be opened so that I can picked him up after school.

Not Eating Lunch

William always stands there when i leave the daycare.

Fri morning.   When I dropped William off at Children’s World preschool today; Ms. Leila told me William doesn’t want to eat lunch.  When it’s lunch time, he’d cry and doesn’t want to sit on the chair; and when he finally sits, he’d push food away.  Ms. Leila saved the food for him so that he can have it after nap time but then he’d refuse to eat too.

I felt bad knowing that my boy is starving the whole day; I wish he can talk so that he could tell me why he doesn’t want to eat lunch!

Lunch menu for this week
William loves to walk on these wooden block

William loves to walk on these wooden block.  He looks so sad when I leave!  He doesn’t play with other kids so he must be very lonely.  Poor my little boy.  I just wish I don’t have to work so that he can stay home or I can take him out to have some fun.

Another Session with Ms. Annie

William and Ms. Annie

Tues afternoon.  This week ABEST sent Ms. Annie to come for William for the whole week; reason being RCOC changed their requirement for ABA Service staffs so Ms. Han and Mr. Quang are no longer eligible to teach William.

Ms. Nhi (in dress) is supervising. She’s due on Sept for a baby boy.

William & Ms. Annie. William likes to sit on the floor so Ms. Annie uses it as an enforcer.
