Xmas 2018

At William’s Grandma’s house 11:30 AM

Annually we met at my Mom’s house for Xmas party, where all my sisters and brothers brought their families and gifts to. As usual, we would have 1 designated person to hand out the gifts to every one: he’d pick up 1 present, read the tag and call out the name. The person whose name is called would come up to him and take the gift. Everyone would applaud when the name is called and when the gift was opened.

When William’s name was called, he freaked out and then ran away. Tim ran after him and tried to talk to him so that he’d come and get his present but he refused and ran to where I was sitting. His behaviors got worse when he kicked the gifts and used his hands to push all the gift down.

I recalled he had this same behavior on his Pre-school graduation day at Mitchell school with Mrs. Hana. When Mrs. Hana called his name and people started to clap, he panic and tried to run out of the room, then later rolled on the floor and refused to get up there to get his certification.

I think he does not cope well when there’s attention toward him. It’s not just the crowd, it’s the noise and being on the spot that freaks him out.

Australian Swim School – New Location

We changed the location from Santa Ana to Fountain Valley; the pool here is inside the LA Fitness Center on Tabert and Brookhust.

William cried on the way because he knew we were not driving to the Santa Ana location. He kept saying, Make a U-turn, I want to go to Australian Swim school.  He does not understand yet that the school can have several locations :).

Santa Ana Wind

Monday morning,  I took William to school as usual, the wind was so strong, when I came back I saw the big tree in front of our house was knocked down by the strong Santa Ana wind!   We were lucky, if we were late 5 minutes, the tree would hit us.  The wind also knocked down some pots, some ceramic vases were broken.

I called 911 but no one came until 1 day later.  The man said “Just so you know we did not forget about you but we got 257 calls today so we’re taking care of the trees that on the street.  I’ll try to send some one for you later today!”.   The tree felt on my yard so it’s not blocking any street access so I guess it’s not their priority right now, which I understand.

1 day later, the fallen tree is still there. On our way to school.

I Love You

Sunday Nite, William jumped from sofa to the white chaise; He did not stop there,he  reached for the glass vase; I was afraid he was gonna break it so I told him to not touch it.  He didn’t listen! He picked up the vase up, jumped down from the chair and handed the vase to me and said “I Love You!”.

I was so surprised because it was the first time he said I Love You and gave me the flowers!  what a beautiful gesture!  I said I Love You back.

It’s the clear tall vase with the little white flowers inside, which I got from the wedding yesterday.

Getting Along Well?

Playing in Mama’s car before heading to the day care.

Thursday, picked him up at Lincoln school; Ms. Birdie brought William and Jordan out to the gate.  While waiting for Ms. Birdie to unlock the gate doors, William held both hands to the gate and hit his head slightly against it.  When I told him “No, don’t do that”,  he said “Do not bump your head!”.  I told Ms. Birdie that William has been talking a lot more which is good; then Ms. Birdie shared a story.  She said William, Jordan and Dyllan have been playing together at break times and when out in the playground, they would look for each other.  I’m so happy to hear that; the fact that he’s starting to make friends is a big big improvement.

I’m always afraid that he’d feel lonely at school but now that I heard that from Ms. Birdie, I’m so comforted.
