Swim Lessons At The Daycare

Ready to go to daycare

Tuesday morning.  Took a few pictures of the pool where William takes swim lessons every morning at 9:45 for 30 minutes.   The first few sessions Mr. Daniel sat him out because he would not listen.  On Friday, Thomas from TASKids said he heard the teachers said they had a hard time to get  William out of the pool!

The fee is $70 for a 2 weeks session; it’s 30 minutes every day.  In the morning, the teacher would change the students clothes and then take them to the pool.  Once they’re done with the session, the teacher would take them back to the room. and change their clothes.  They hang the wet clothes on the fence so that it’s ready for the next day.  On Friday, the teachers send the bag with all the clothes back to us;  So on Monday we’d bring the bag with all the necessities back to the teachers.

In the bag, I packed for William: swim suit, towel, sandals and swim diapers.

Snack At The Daycare

Friday Morning. Dropped off William at the daycare and whiled waited for Mr. Gary to come, I took a few pictures of William.  I did not know that they server snack at 9:00 AM.  Today it’s pop corn and berry juice.

Sitting alone on the little slide

It took a while for William to come to the table, while as other children came to the table right away when they heard the snack was served.  So William sat on the next table.  He reached over to get a napkin, unfold it and placed it down in front of him, waiting to be served popcorn.  I’m not sure he unfolded the napkin because he heard the teachers said so so he saw other children did that.  He ate his portion of popcorn and juice.

William unfolded the napkin and put it in front of him, waiting to be served pop corn.
Does he feel lonely? I always wonder!

Summer Break Officially Starts

June 1, 2018 It’s Summer time; which means no school in the morning so we send William to the Children’s World Preschool full day today; and next week too.  Then he’ll have summer school for about 1 month and then 1 month off before going to the Transition Kindergarten at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.

According to Ms. Jody from TasKids, William loves to play with this kitchen set.

8:30 AM, everyone is going out to the play yard. William cut in the line to be the first ones to go out; I tried to get him to get in line but he refused.

William Hit His Face on the Metal Merry-Go-Round

This is how it looks when Tim picked him up from school. From the pic, it doesn’t look as bad but it’s really bad!

Wednesday.  William was sent home today with a big dark bruise on his face below the right cheek with a note that he had an accident!  According to the note he was trying to jump off the Merry Go Round and slipped and hit his face on the metal bar.

Ms. Jeannie from TasKids was there with him at the time of the accident.

Today, it’s 6th day and the bruise still bad.  When I touched it gently and asked him if it hurts but he did not say anything.

1 day later, the bruise is starting to get darker.

New Teacher at Children’s World Preschool

Friday 9:30.  There’s no school at Mitchell today so William will spend his whole day at the day care.  When I dropped him off, Ms. Chastity opened the small door for William to go in and told me that she’s now William’s teacher.  Ms. Chastity has been with the daycare for a while but she was not in charge of William’s class.  She said Ms. Nancy quits because she was not happy here lately.  Ms. Nancy was in William’s class for only 2 months, I think.  There’s lots of staffs changes in the last few months.

William and Ms. Chastity

Below is a list of staffs who were/are William’s teachers:

Ms. Leila, she stayed with the school longest.  She was in charge of Yellow Bird class for more than 1 year.

Ms. Sandra, few months.

Ms. Nancy, 2 months.

Ms. Chastity.

Hopefully Ms. Chastity will stay longer.  I can tell that she really likes William.  Most of the time when I drop him off around noon (after Mitchell class), she’d sit by his tiny bed and try to get him to sleep.

She told me she just re-decorated the room; so I came in and took a few pictures.  It looks nice, she did a nice job.  The fact that she went extra to make the room looks nice means that she really loves working there.   The other morning, the school was giving out morning snack in the yard; she tried to get William to come to the table but William refused.  I’m really thankful of that nice gesture because at that scene there was Ms. Rosemary and Ms. Jennifer but no one asked William if he likes to eat something.

Ms. Chastity seems very excited about this news, I heard her said it several times “I’m in William’s class now!”.   And I’m glad too!

Yellow bird classroom, the table is where they do crafts as well has having lunch. The door leads to a small kitchen on left and the other classroom.
The rug area is where those tiny cots will be set up for the nap time. William’s bed is always in the far left corner.

Last Day with ABEST

Last 4 days with Ms. Han and Tracy at the day care

Today, Friday,  is the last day William has the session at the day care with ABEST; Ms. Tracy is the BT today.  Today concludes 9 months of receiving services from ABEST.  I’d say we’re very pleased with the services that ABEST provided; I’m really sad that all the good staffs left and that we have no choice to find a new vendor.

Saying good bye to the people that we love is always hard.   I waited on Thursday at the day care to see Ms. Han to say good bye to her;  I prepared to express our appreciation to her but when I saw her, just the thought of not seeing her again brought tears to my eyes so all I could say was “Thank You Em” while giving her a hug and then I turned around to get back into my car.  I sat there an watched her walking thru the side door of the school to get into William’s classroom.  Ms. Han replied “I like William a lot!”.

I wish that we have some pictures of William and all ABEST staffs but with school policy of no photos/videos, we don’t have any pictures at all.  Monday 3/12/2018 Ms. Nhu will come to pick up the binder; and that will be the last person from ABEST that we see.

Starting To Blend In?

Friday morning; there’s no school at Mitchell so William will be spending his day at Children’s World Preschool.  I dropped him off as usual; and stood by my car to observe him a little bit before leaving the day care.  He walked around, passed the sand box and came to the group of other children who were playing with the race tracks.  I’m glad to see that because other times he’d just sit alone some where and did not interact with other children.  The fact that he came by to watch others play is a good sign that he’s starting to blend in.

I hope that he will continue to do this instead of isolating himself in some corner.

I’m proud of you, Son!

Lately William has trouble taking the afternoon nap; the staffs have been trying to help him by holding him; or Ms. Nancy lies next to his little cot to keeps him from running around.  So I bought some bakery to say thank you to everyone.  Thank you for loving my little boy.

Another Day at Day Care

Thursday 8:30 AM, I dropped him off a the day care; he reached to the doorbell located on the left side of the school door as usual (even thought we never hear the bell rings).  He walked in thru the little door, hung up his lunch box in his designated hook and then walked out to the playground.  He stood by the fence and watched as I drove the car away.

At the same time a mother dropped her son off; almost every kids at the school came up to him and said “Hi, Mathew!” while William was standing alone by the fence.  I wish that some day William can be that “Mathew”,; at least he can have some friends to hang out and that he won’t be feeling lonely.

Love Playing With The Sand

William and the sand box

Wed 8:30 AM; William went straight to the sand box right after I dropped him off.   Everyone says he loves to play with the sand.  He used the Lego block that he took from home to scoop up the sand.  At some point he almost lied on the sand; now the sand is all over his jacket & pants.  (He always takes 1 thing with him to school but never brings it back)

I was about to leave when I saw this boy Zackerie tried to take the Lego away from William’s hand.  William refused to give it, so Zackerie kicked the sand toward William.   Mrs. Rose Mary & Nancy were there but they didn’t see that scene.  I waved my hand and approached William.  Mrs. Nancy saw me waving so she came to me and asking what’s wrong.  I told her what just happened. She said “Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on him”; and turned to Zackerie who was still hanging around the sand box, “This is William’s mom; Be nice to your friend, ok?”

I heard stories from Ms. Annie, Han & Celestie about some kids at this day care are not nice to William.  Some twins don’t want to share, they block the slide so that William can’t use it.   And Dominique always picks on William.  This is the first time that I saw it with my own eyes.

This is a small environment and William doesn’t fit it well, how can he survive in Kinder Garden, which will be next year because he’s 4 now? As a Mom I’m feel worried and sad.
