Wednesday noon. Picked William up and there he was with a nice hat. He looked happy as usual.

William Is Limping!
Tuesday 10 AM, Mrs. Hana from Mitchell called. She said William had been limping for 40 minutes now; he looked happy so she wasn’t sure if he was doing that just for fun. She also sent me a video of William limping via classDojo app. From the video it’s obviously that he was hurting that’s why he’s limping but he looked happy walking around the area. I messaged back to Mrs. Hana asking her to have the school nurse checked him out. 11 AM, Mrs. Hana called and said the nurse and the physical therapy (who happened to be in school at the time) took a look at his leg but could not find anything abnormal.
So I took off work around 11:30 AM, picked William up early; he was eating lunch when I came. He was still limping but I didn’t see any pain from his face. I called the doctor Huy’s office to make appointment; and they set us up at 2:00 PM. It was still early for our doctor appointment so I took him home.
2:00 PM. Doctor Huy Nguyen took a look at his leg, watched him limping around, touched his feet but William but could not find anything wrong either. He said to give his leg some warm water and massage it.
He felt asleep around 4:00 PM on our bed; after he woke up around 5:30 PM, he stopped limping. And I didn’t even give him a massage yet!
No one knows what happened; and William doesn’t talk so we’re clueless. Hopefully it’s nothing major. Dr. Huy said to observe, if it doesn’t go away then we might have to take X-ray to check out. Hopefully we don’t have to go thru that.
Later when he had session with ABA Staff Dan at 5:30 PM, he’s totally fine, no more limping.
It’s Friday!
Friday afternoon, another hot autumn day.
As usual I picked him up after my quick lunch around 1:00 PM. I always try to arrive before 1:00 so that I can find a parking spot near the gate. Almost everyday he walks out with Mrs. Hana; and today with a big smile on his face.
I told the teacher aids about toilet training William at home; and they told Mrs. Hana. So Mrs. Hana asked me if I want to do that here at Mitchell. I’m glad that Mrs. Hana is so willingly to help with toilet training. It’s been a whole week (since Monday this week) and she says there’s no accident at all; we’re so proud of you William!
It becomes a routine now that after I pick him up, I let him play in the car while trying to feed him some thing like hot dogs, sausage or cheese. Daily report says he doesn’t eat much at lunch so I always bring him some thing to eat before driving him to the daycare. As soon as he’s done eating we’ll take off and head to the day care; It’s usually about 1:40 PM.
Cough Again?
Wednesday Morning 8:30 AM. I dropped William off at his classroom; he put his backpack in his slot and ran to the play area as usual while I was talking to Ms. Vanessa for a few minutes. When I looked over to the play area, I saw William lying on the floor with his face up and crying; his hands were trying to wipe off tears! Not sure what happened but when I picked him up, he coughed several times and looked like he was feeling nauseous. So Ms. Vanessa called the school nurse; Mrs. Krastine came by a few minutes later. She listened to William’s heart, looked into his ears and said everything is good.
So I let him stay at the school; mainly because I know for sure he’s fine; maybe when he felt on the floor something got into his mouth that caused his cough. He was totally fine at him when I prepared him to school in the morning. He was sleepy but not sick.
Hopefully his day goes well today!
Nice Paper Hat
William got a nice paper hat when I picked him up from Mitchell school today; he looked happy when he ran over to me.
Back to School After Vacation
Tuesday morning 8:30 AM. After 1 week in Cancun, William has returned to school since yesterday. He was fine yesterday but today he didn’t want to step in to class. He eventually stepped in after I opened the door wide open but would not run to the play area as he used to do. Then finally he walked to the play area and sat down near the wall.
Back to Mitchell School – 2nd year
Monday morning @ 8:30 AM. Today marks William’s 2nd year going to Mitchell Child Development Center. Hopefully he’ll learn more this year. He cried at home and didn’t want to go but he did not cry when I dropped him off at Mrs. Hana Suh classroom 309. He ran straight to a corner and sat down; I saw his smile while he’s sitting down and then he’s just sitting there and watching his friends playing toys. I wish he’d know how to interact with other children or at least grasp a toy and play instead of just watching.
Hope that he will eat something for lunch under Mrs. Hana Suh’s supervision. I’m still sad and curious as why he didn’t eat lunch during summer school with Ms. Heusser.
William Cried At the Daycare
Wednesday morning. I dropped William at the Children’s World preschool daycare (it’s summer break at Mitchell so we send William to the daycare full day for 2 weeks, until Mitchell school starts on Aug 14th), and he started to cry when I opened the door.
He didn’t want to go in! I felt bad because that means that he doesn’t want to stay; there must be something that he doesn’t like about this school but he can’t talk about it.
He’s been going to this daycare for more than a year, so I find it very strange that he cried today.
Hopefully his time of staying here is fun; I wish they can share their camera videos so that we can watch how’s he doing at school.
It’s Friday!
Another hot summer day; and Friday is the day for water activities at Mitchell school so I had William wear short with waterproof shoes. Today breakfast was egg hamburger but I noticed Ms. Heusser did not give William burger; she gave him tater tots (potatoes) instead so I asked. She said because the record shows that William has allergy with egg so that’s why they serve him different breakfast. I stood there and observed for 15 minutes while they were eating breakfast. William picked up only small piece of tater tots; some times he tried to use the fork to pick a bigger piece but he could not. Ms. Susan sat next to him but seemed to didn’t notice any thing. Not sure what ‘s she there for? Is she supposed to pay attention to them and help them eat their breakfast. She only tried once “Karen, try this!” and put the food down on her plate because Karen refused. That’s all she did! I just don’t think she tries enough!
Signs of Participation
On the way to his classroom, we saw a class doing some exercise and stretch outside, William stopped and imitated some of the moves; I was so surprised that he was willing to participate in the group activities even though he’s not aware that it’s not his class.
Then when we got to his classroom, and it was breakfast time; he sat down on the chair, picked up the muffin and ate without the teacher to repeatedly remind him to eat. Seeing William sat and ate his muffin along with his peers made me happy.
Our son is starting to learn to participate in group activities!
