Hawaii Here We Come – Aug 2021

Thursday 8/12 – Monday 8/16.

Our summer vacation this year was Honolulu, Oahu, and we were staying for 3 nights at one of the most beautiful hotel on the island, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort.   William is 7 years old now, he’s old enough not to cry and he loves to fly!  The only issue during our flight from LAX – Honolulu is that he kept standing up on the chair and touched the lights on the ceiling and often times pulling down/up the food tray so strong that would shake the seat of the person sitting in front of him.  Lucky for us it’s Danny seat so we were not yelled at.  He did not want to watch any movie, all he wanted was looking at the map.

William only slept for about 30 minutes; United airlines did not serve lunch; I brought 1 lunchbox from home so that was William’s lunch.  We were late because we had a bit of issue getting the pre-approval of covid-19 so did not have time to buy any thing for lunch; lucky for us aunt Eliza gave me a croissant, which I shared with aunt Julie.

Everyone is required to wear mask all the time, except for when eating.

We arrived at Honolulu airport around 11:00 AM, it took so long for the luggage to come out.  Then we headed to the Budget rental car to pick up 2 minivans to fit total of 12 of us.  Then we headed to Pho Que Huong at China town for lunch; the food here is good.  After lunch, we stopped by Costco on the way to the hotel for some water and snacks.  Aunt Eliza bought William a set of Beach toys!  William enjoyed his churros while looking out the window: it’s his first time here at Waikiki.

Check in at the hotel took so long: about 1 hour! I already checked in via Hilton Honors app, otherwise it’d take longer because the general check in line was so long.  It took so long because they required EACH adult to log in to the Safe Travel web site and show them the trip details.

But then when we got to our room, the view was spectacular; it was worth all the hassle!  After a short break, we headed down to the Hilton Lagoon, William loved it here!  We got lucky that someone gave us 3 floats because their trip ended today.

Fever Is Gone, Thanks God!

Sunday 6 AM. William woke up early at 6:00; I touched his forehead and his fever was gone!  I’m so relieved because I was so worried that he had to skip school.  We took a walk around the neighborhood and then went to church.  He felt asleep during the mass, I guess because of the Benadryl that I gave him before going to the church.

Played in the back yard

Later in the afternoon he wanted to go to water park but it was too late, the water park would be closed by the time we arrived so we took him to the beach instead.  He walked with us to go near the water which is a big improvement because before he’d refuse to go near the water.

Ready to take a walk around the neighborhood. He loves to take the cards with him everywhere (he put the cards in the bucket)
I turned on the light, he loved it so much that he let the tassels touched his face. Minutes later he started to scratch his cheeks so I gave him some Benadryl.

He loved it that I put sand over his feet.
He picked up a shell and threw it back to the water

Vacation Starts Today!

William would not want to go near the sand so we had to take pictures from the pool.

More Details

William is 1 year old

This is the beginning of our Florida-Bahamas trip: we stayed in the Miami for the first 5 days then flew to the Bahamas and stayed there for the next 4 days.

The suite at the Alexander Resort Hotel is nice; William liked it a lot; he’d running around touching this & that; we had to hide some of the decorations so that he’d not break it.  But some times he’d wake up during the night and cry a lot; no matter what we did, he kept crying.  William’s cousin Danny tried to help by turning on the cartoon channel on the TV (thanks Danny).

William & God Father Than Vo

We tried to take William to the beach once but he was so scared; he’d hold on to me so that his feet would not touch the water.  But he liked the hotel’s pool.  His God Father Than Vo held him so that he lays flat on his stomach on the water, he liked that a lot.  During this whole trip William was so attached to his God Father; William would jump up on his thigh and sit there, which he rarely does with us :).

On the day we visited John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and went on a submarine to see the Molasses Reef.  William threw up while we were waiting on the line for the submarine.  Then he felt asleep soon when we settled down inside the submarine.  Poor little guy, he didn’t enjoy anything!

I guess his favorite place is in the hotel, where he can run around freely.
