Monday afternoon. William started to cough after school at Mitchell. Later in the evening he coughed more during ABA session with Ms. Annie and Jody from ABEST.
So I cooked him salmon porridge; after dinner we gave him 5 ml DimeTapp and another 5ml around 4:30 AM on Tuesday early morning because he could not sleep and started to cough again.
Tuesday 8 AM. His head felt warm to the touch. He’s still coughing but not that much so I sent him to school. Hopefully he’ll get better soon.
Saturday Morning, it’s a nice day after the heat wave last week so I decided to take William out to the park to play in the playground. Mrs. Lydia, William’s caregiver from GSG came in separate car.
I intended to leave William there with Lydia to go to Mom Supermarket which is only 1 block away to get some stuffs to cook Bun Rieu. I instructed Lydia to keep an eye on him always and let him drink the juice every 10 minutes. On the way to the car I changed my mind, my gut is telling me not to leave the boy to a stranger so I just moved my car nearer to the playground and then stood under the shade to watch William from a distance. I watched for 10 minutes then I don’t see him walking around any more so I walked to the playground. I found William sat on the step, looking sad and tired; Lydia gave him the juice bottle but he refused. Then he walked few more steps up and lied down! I came to pick him up, he looked so sad. I gave him a hug, he held on to me; Lydia handed me the juice and I fed him; he drank it. From that moment on he would not let me go. I tried to put him down so that we could walk to the car but he refused to be let down. It struck me that William felt sad because he didn’t see me around. Even though Lydia was there but she’s a total stranger to him.
Yesterday (Wednesday) evening, while in ABA session with Ms. Annie.
As usual I always prepare some snack for William to eat during session; and today we have egg rolls. Ms. Annie thought the word Egg Roll might be too hard for him to repeat so she said “William, food!” as she handed him the dish with egg roll. William replied “Egg Roll!” to our surprise. We all laughed because we never expect him to say some thing that we didn’t teach. I may have said the word some times but never ask him to repeat it; that’s why we were so surprised that he could say it very clear.
Today morning when I dropped him off at Mrs. Hana class, I told her about the story and asked if he learned it from school. She laughed and said he must learn it from Max, 1 of William’s classmates, who had egg roll every day for the last year! (this year Max is not going to this school).
Mrs. Hana also told me that usually William hates circle time, most of the time he’d get mad but yesterday he came up to the board when Mrs. Hana called his name.
I’m so happy knowing that William is learning something, slowly but making good progress.
